- Large Wafer Head Timber Construction Landscape Screwsare seriously big screws for all timbers including treated pine. They have a large than normal head diameter, coarse threads and bigger than standard body diameters compared to the traditional bugle batten screw. They are fast becoming the go to screw when screwing into heavy timber battens and stitching large sleepers together. Can be driven in without the need for pre-drilling making it them the perfect choice for the landscaper, builder and DIYer. Easy to use, can be installed using 5mm hex/Allen key or 5mm hex drive bit in a power tool. The special long sharp self drilling point with a flute (Type 17) that cuts the timber fibres as it is screwed in. Timber fibres are collected in the flute which help reduce the potential of timber splitting.
- Material / Coating: Tykote is a high-performance coating by Hobson Engineering which is specially formulated for resisting treated pine chemicals, it is not recommended for pool decking, marine decking or coastal environments
- What does TPI stand for?: TPI stands for “threads per inch” which literally means the number of threads within each inch on a screw, a bolt, or a fastener. To determine the TPI of a screw, count the number of threads contained within an inch of length on the fastener. If the screw is less than an inch count ½” of an inch and multiply by 2
- How to measure the length of a Timber Screw: Fastener length is generally measured from the point where the surface of the material will be when the fastener is installed to the end of the fastener. Thus, fasteners with heads that sit above the surface are measured from under the head to the end of the fastener, while fasteners that sit flush with the surface are measured from the top of the head to the end of the fastener
