- Pan Head Security Screws are a tamper resistant self drilling screw designed to be used into metal. It has a Post Torx drive which is extremely difficult to install and remove without the matching tool. The ideal security screw to protect and prevent unauthorised removal. Post Torx Drive is a five lobe design with a solid post (pin) in the centre of the recess to provide increased resistance to tampering. Commonly used to when fixing into metal.
- Installation: Easy to install with a T25 Post Torx insert or power driver bit using a drill driver at a MAX speed of 2500. Whilst we know in most instances using an IMPACT driver does work it is recommended NOT to use an IMPACT driver due to the power, speed and drilling nature and action of an Impact drill.
- Material / Coating: Excellent grade for self-drillng screws due to its hardness. It is a magnetic stainless steel, hardened by heat treatment (which grades G304 and G316 cannot be). For this reason, it has excellent drilling properties – however G410 has lower corrosion resistance than G304 and G316 and should not be used in highly or even moderately corrosive environments or tea-staining will result
- What does TPI stand for?: TPI stands for “threads per inch” which literally means the number of threads within each inch on a screw, a bolt, or a fastener. To determine the TPI of a screw, count the number of threads contained within an inch of length on the fastener. If the screw is less than an inch measure ½” of an inch and multiply the number you counted by 2
- Length of Thread: Always choose a self driller with enough threads to fully engage in the base metal. For attachments to 1/4" base steel, a self-drilling screw should have at least 1/4" of threads. It is helpful, but not critical, that the threads also engage in the material being fastened. The head of the fastener provides the bearing force for the material being fastened, while the threads provide the clamping force in the base material
- Drill Point Style: A twist drill style hardened point for fast driving into light gauge sheeting, cladding panels, sections and assemblies. The length of the drilling flutes determine the amount of drilling swaft that can be expelled and therefore the depth of metal can be drilled
